Maybe you've got a bunch of lemons, and you don't know what to do with them. Maybe you love lemonade but want to try something different than the regular one. Whatever the case may be, this strawberry pink lemonade will be perfect for you.

Is Pink Lemonade made with strawberries?

According to the story, it's believed that pink lemonade was invented in a circus and initially gained its color with food coloring or strawberries.

Over the years, people have been varying the way to give the lemonade its pink color by adding cranberries, raspberries, pomegranate, etc. Here is a link to a fun article by Food Network, talking about its possible invention and variations.

In my pink lemonade, I prefer to use strawberries. In addition to giving a delicious taste, it is healthier than food coloring. Also, it allows you to use those strawberries that are not so pretty and would go to waste.

    FAQs

How to make a healthy strawberry pink lemonade?

To make it healthier, you can sweeten it up with honey or other natural sweeteners, like monk fruit, erythritol, or xylitol. Here's a great article about natural sweeteners if you'd like to learn more about them.

Can I use something else besides strawberries?

Yes, you can. Raspberries, cranberries, and even pomegranate can replace strawberries. Just keep in mind that because of the difference in flavor, tartness, and sweetness of these fruits, the amount to be used will vary.

    Can I freeze it?

Freezing the concentrate would be a great idea to avoid waste and to make things easier in the future.
Just blend the lemon juice, strawberries, and a bit of water, and pour into ice molds. Freeze it for up to 3 months.
When you want a delicious strawberry pink lemonade, just pop them into a pitcher, let them thaw, and add water and sugar to your liking.

Why are some pink lemonades lighter in color?

Most industrialized pink lemonades get their color from food coloring. Our pink lemonade is natural, so it's brighter because of the strawberries.

I just made this today and my whole family (kids and grownups) were raving about it! I followed it as is with only 1 modification: I doubled the strawberry amount. We wanted a strong strawberry flavor & we also needed to use up the strawberries before they go bad. It was PERFECT! With the extra strawberries (for us) it was just the right amount of lemon, water & sugar!! Thank you for sharing! I also loved the flexibility and simplicity of the recipe! This will be a summer family favorite!!!
